WINTER FUN FOR EVERYONE! Winter is more than snowmobiles in the Bridge River Valley. When conditions permit, Ice Skating on a frozen lake can’t be beat! Residents build and maintain rinks on most of the lakes to extend the skating season after the snow falls. Bring your fishing gear and spend some time Ice Fishing at one of the many lakes in the valley. Brooke & Rainbow Trout can be caught on Mowson, Pearson & Plateau Ponds and on Kingdom, Little Gun and Gwenyth Lakes. Bait can be purchased in town from Pioneer Paul 250-238-2584. The WinterFest is not to be missed! Held on Saturday Feb 18 this year. Curling Bonspiel, Hockey Games, XC Ski races, Snow Sculpture, Snowmobile Scavenger Hunt, BBQ, Bonfire and more! More info closer to the date on the WinterFest page and on Facebook. Other popular winter pastimes include Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing on the network of trails and logging roads. Tyaughton Lake & Pearson Pond provide the novice skier with easy terrain. Tyaughton also offers good cardio for skate skiing when the conditions are right. The mining roads & inter-connecting trails around Pearson Pond & Mowson pond offer a little more variety but are ungroomed. Locals welcome snowmobile tracks to ski on after a dump of snow over 10cm! |
